NZ Solar Rule Changes: the 30 things installers must know

Three regulators moved at once and none of them coordinated the dates. This is the single list — what changed, when it bites, and what to do about it. A few of the ones people get wrong:

  • The “Australia A” settings landed 11 May 2026, not November 2025 — that date belongs to the separate ±10% voltage change.
  • Your MPG endorsement deadline is your next licence renewal on or after 1 Sep 2026 — not a flat date. Two sparkies in the same van can be on different timelines.
  • Type AC RCDs are effectively out, and pressing the test button is no longer the test.
  • The 10 kW default export limit is now yours to hold networks to — a lower limit has to be justified.
